Secret hot springs...

Secret place...
Sunday 18 march 2012... clouds all  over the capital...
No motivation  at all...
But hopefully  Lewis saved us from a long boring
depressing day ! HAHA
So he drove us  to the Yamingshan mountains
(lot of troubles to get there by the way ^^ !)

While it started to drizzle we walk through
the wiiiiiild forest (kiddin')
to reach this beautiful mysterious place where
the cold waterfalls meet the really warm
water heated by the sulfuric fumaroles...

Such an interesting place that Taiwanese
refurbished by themselves...
by setting up those smalls pools
with some volcanic rocks
...

full of *biotites* and
solidified ashes =)
Picture from Simona :)

Quwu used to be...

as well-known all over the world, typhoon Morakot hit Taiwan from the 6th to the 11h of august 2009

Since it brought heavy rain, the typhoon caused a lot f damage all around the country
such as floods, homes swept away, and thousands of landslides in the central range.
Those pictures were taken in Quwu...
which is nos empty because the aboriginal people who used to live there, realized that it wasn't safe anymore... all the village is movingdownward ;

even if no one died because they did escape
the mountains before the typhoon arrived,
they had to move out to the plains...
they now live in Sandimen which is safer but not 100%
since it's located at the end of the main catchment.

Sunny Yamingshan.

Woaaaaaa what a nice Sunday !!
Sun wasn't shy this time so we've decided to "climb" the Yamingshan mountain...
Here are some pictures,
Believe me or not... it was outstanding.
Only 45min from the city Main station (centre of Taipei) ...
one peaceful and wild place to see !
Sulphuric fumaroles

Slow wind blowing...

First peak done !

358646 th shot !

Yamingshan has still a "post-volcanic" activity
and the heat from the deep earth
meets the underground-water
which creates all the fumaroles ...
and this nice smell of rotten egg :)

After a long walk in the sun...
we did deserve a good meal !
So we just went to Shilin night market
to taste their delicious and HUGE snowflake ice-cream
And their famous pepper-sauce steak
So yummy as usual °°°

Hungryyyyy !

MOCA ***

music-paper

Museum of Contemporary Art of Taipei.

* SWEET *

Entrance ticket: 50 nt$ (equal 1.20 euros !)
Thematic of the month: Australia and aborigines.
Feeling : alriiiiiiight ! Coz I really love this kind of place... quiet and curious : )
I wanted to see this museum for a long time, I heard it was really small and not so interesting but I did find it more than 'all right' !
Even if they refurbished the place, the building still got charm and the exhibitions rooms where all quite different and original. My favourite exhibition was the one where we could sit and watch in a big screen an old Chinese man doing some tai-chi ... in slow motion (see on the pic) !
After that we've been to Rahoe night market ... must be the biggest one of the all capital... everything was so cheap and we've seen so many weird stuff like the fish-costume or the batman-costume for puppy !?!!
